Children

Here at Leeds First we provide wonderful opportunities to share Christ with children in our community and to open their hearts to each other. Our goal is to create a space for kids to begin understanding God’s vision for them and to learn how to practice their faith purposefully, passionately, and creatively. We pray and strive to help kids grow in a Biblical community that leads to knowing Jesus, having time with friends and growing in service to our Creator and community, plus having lots of fun along the way!

On Sunday mornings at 9:45 the fellowship hall, located in the main building, is alive with busy little bodies and lots of energy, and we love it! We use the Deep Blue Kids curriculum because we believe it helps kids learn about God’s big story – His passionate pursuit of His people throughout the Bible – so that we can understand God’s big love for us His children. Every Sunday your children will learn that all of the Bible points back to Jesus Christ and that every story is part of God’s big story. On the first Sunday of the month, our children participate in communion during both services, then, on the second Sunday of the month, our children collect money for Backpack Buddies at the end of each service. On the fourth Sunday of each month, our children ‘s bell choir performs during the traditional service.

During the school year we offer a time for the children to play, eat, and learn during Wednesday Night Kids. Free play begins at 5:00 in the Family Life Center, with dinner at 5:30. Modeled after the church found in Acts 2:44-47, Wednesday Night Kids creates a community for preschool through 5th graders to lean on as they encounter the world outside of their church. We do this by playing organized games, reading and applying scripture in a large group setting and diving deeper into knowing Jesus. We also have a service opportunity every week by bringing needed supplies for our Backpack Buddies ministry.

To provide our children and youth a safe and nurturing environment, Leeds First follows the guidelines of Safe Sanctuaries, a ministry of the United Methodist Church for volunteers and staff.
