Sharing Christ!
MissionsHere at Leeds First we believe it is not just enough to profess we believe in Jesus, but we must also live it. One way in which we live the christian life is through the area of missions. In the area of missions we are committed to making a difference in our world with the love of Jesus in the following ways.
Each month we have two designated Sundays on which we have special giving.
On the Second Sunday we have designated giving to Leeds Welfare. Leeds Welfare is a local Co-op support by those in the community to meet the needs which arise in Leeds. Every second sunday we contribute to this effort by bringing various items to donate to the Welfare. IE... Can Goods, Paper Towels, Rice in a box etc... It is a great ministry here in our community and we are pleased to be a part of it.
On the Third Sunday we have designated it to be Change Can Change Your World Sunday. Every Third Sunday we encourage our congregation to bring any loose change they may have and place it in our jars at the entrance of the sanctuary. All the loose change is then counted and given to the Change Can Change Your World ministry. It seems like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference in the lives of those who receive the benefit of simple loose change. For those who are looking for a weekly ministry we have Meals on Wheels. This ministry has been going on for years in the community and we are pleased to be part of it. It is simply taking one morning a week and delivering a meal to someone who is homebound and cannot get out of the house. To participate in this ministry call the church for more details. 699 - 8575.
Operation Christmas Child for Samaritan's Purse is also a mission we do each Christmas Season. For this ministry we take empty shoeboxes, fill them with prescribed items, wrap them, and send them to Samaritan's Purse. Samaritan's Purse Ministry then places them in the hands of children throughout the world who are in need of a Christmas Blessing. This year we collected 185 shoeboxes. What an awesome opportunity for ministry!![]() In the summer of 2007, Leeds First participated in renovating a home in our community through Habitat for Humanity. Since that time we have had the opportunity to help renovate 3 other houses in our community, what a priviledge! We are blessed to be able to serve our neighbors as the hands and feet of Christ. We look forward to doing another project in the future!
