New Name, Same Amazing Mission!

On Sunday, December 11, 2022, Leeds First Methodist Church completed our move from the United Methodist Church to the Global Methodist Church. The mission for our local church remains unchanged--to make paths for more people to know and grow like Jesus.

The Global Methodist Church is committed to the Lordship of Jesus Christ, the inspiration and authority of the Scriptures, and the work of the Holy Spirit in conveying God’s truth and grace to all people.

This move followed a season of leadership and congregational discernment, a church conference vote, and approval from both UMC and GMC leaders. We're grateful for the history we've shared with other UMC churches, the gracious current leadership in the UMC North Alabama Conference, and pray for God's best in each of their futures. Likewise, we are excited to begin work with GMC leaders and partner with other churches in our region and around the world.

In the coming weeks, you will see changes to our name and profile images, communications you receive, and even signs on our campus. Please accept our apologies in advance as these step by step changes may cause some temporary confusion until they are all completed.
