Just Getting Started

May 7, 2026

“Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” Galatians 6:9

May 1st marked one year that I have had the privilege of being in ministry here at Leeds First Methodist. We would be right to insert all the usual cliches about how fast it has gone by because it seems to have passed so quickly. It has been a year filled with great joys—getting to know all of you; getting to worship with you; and getting to serve alongside you all immediately come to mind. We’ve had powerful moments—seeing people baptized, seeing people recommit themselves, and seeing friends find their way back to us. We’ve had growing moments—Bible studies, worship services, and small groups. We’ve had silly moments—throwing frozen pancakes and seeing a 270 pound man do the worm! We have tried new things and met new people. Through it all, we’ve sought the Lord, and the best part is, we’re just getting started!

I am so filled with joy with all we’ve done the past year and so excited because I know that God has so much more in store for us. As we continue in mission and ministry together, I am trusting that we will continue to be faithful in seeking the Lord in all that we do; that we will continue finding ways to reach our community for Jesus; and that we will build upon what has come before while looking forward to what lies ahead.

Paul writes to the church in Galatia, urging them to keep up the good work. When we look around us, sometimes we can be discouraged, but we know that if we keep doing the good work that Jesus leads us to do, we will reap a harvest. So my encouragement to all of us as we begin our second year together is this: do not become weary! Let’s keep worshiping; let’s keep growing; let’s keep serving. A harvest awaits us!

Church, I am so grateful to be your pastor, and I thank God for each of you. As we continue to move forward, let’s do so with joyful, expectant hearts, trusting in all that God is doing right here at Leeds First and beyond!

Grace and peace,
Brandon
