Celebrate with a Purpose

December 5, 2025

“And there were shepherds living out in the fields nearby, keeping watch over their flocks at night. An angel of the Lord appeared to them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were terrified. But the angel said to them, ‘Do not be afraid. I bring you good news that will cause great joy for all the people. Today in the town of David a Savior has been born to you; he is the Messiah, the Lord. This will be a sign to you: You will find a baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger.’” Luke 2:8-12

As the song says, “It’s the most wonderful time of the year!” Through this season of preparation all the way to the glorious celebration on Christmas morning, we truly experience the joy of the season. My hope and prayer is that this is a glorious season for each one of you.

In the hustle and bustle of the season, though, I also pray that we will remember what Christmas is all about. I pray that amidst the lights and sounds of celebration, we will remember that baby wrapped in cloths and lying in a manger. I pray that through all the food and family and comings and goings that we will remember that we celebrate with a purpose—that the real celebration is that a savior has been born to us. And I pray that throughout the parties and family gatherings that we will remember the good news that is great joy for all people: Emmanuel—God with us—has come!

Merry Christmas!

Grace and peace,
Brandon
