His Love Endures Forever
November 6, 2025
“…In every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.” Philippians 4:6 (NIV)
Church, it’s November—that month we so often associate with giving thanks. Having time set aside to express our thankfulness is a great thing and a longstanding tradition in our country. I hope, though, as Christians, we don’t limit our thanksgiving to just one day or one month out of the year. Our thanksgiving should be an everyday practice! Paul reminds us that we should, “in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God” (Philippians 4:6).
We know, though, that it’s not always easy to be thankful. Sometimes life is hard, but life with God means always having something to be thankful for! The Israelites had been through tremendous times of strife and struggle, yet the Psalmist, in writing Psalm 136, again and again (in fact, 26 times!) reminds us that no matter what, we have the greatest gift imaginable—a gift for which we should be thankful day by day: God’s indescribable love endures forever!
In this season of thanksgiving, of course let’s be thankful for family and friends, homes and jobs, and all the blessings of this life. But let’s not forget that it is through God’s steadfast love that every blessing comes to us. As the psalmist writes:
Give thanks to the LORD, for he is good.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the God of gods.
His love endures forever.
Give thanks to the Lord of lords:
His love endures forever.
Grace and peace,
Brandon
