What Part Are You?
August 7, 2025
“Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it.” 1 Corinthians 12:27 (NIV)
We often hear that the church is the body of Christ, and we also often hear—as Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 12—that the body is made up of many parts, each one uniquely necessary for the body as a whole. In God’s graciousness, we each have been given the gifts of the Spirit, not for ourselves, but as Paul says, “for the common good” (1 Cor. 12:7). In other words, it is for the good of the church and for the good of the world that we have been given gifts, and God’s graciousness in giving these gifts comes with the expectation that we use these gifts for His good purposes.
There are a number of obvious questions that arise from this, but one I want to focus on is this: Will I use my gifting?
As we get ready to enter the fall season, new Grow Groups are starting up—some as Bible studies/small groups and some as Serve Teams. And that is in addition to the Groups which are already going. In short, there are numerous ways for each of us to get involved and to use the gifts we’ve been given by God.
Many of you are already connected and serving—and that is awesome! But for those who are not in a Sunday school class, small group, or Bible study, and for those who aren’t part of a Serve Team, this is a great time to get started!
Friends, let me encourage you in the strongest terms to get involved! The more we are all invested in our faith community, the more we grow, the more the church grows, and the more Kingdom impact we will have.
Where will you connect?
Grace and peace,
Brandon
